PROGRAM PURPOSE

Offer a combination of training, education, support, and capacity building to address Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse and other mental health challenges among Veterans and their families in Champaign County, Illinois.

PROGRAM PURPOSE

Provide a combination of training, education, support and capacity building that will reduce the violence in Champaign County caused by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among Veterans and their families.

PROGRAM GOALS

Educate veterans and their families by providing mental health resources and training

Increase the leadership and involvement of veterans and community and faith-based supporters

Provide interactive workshops and training for veterans and their families focused on mental health, PTSD and substance abuse

Outreach and Recruitment:

Veterans and families to participate in:

•Trauma & Trauma Informed Care/Seeking Safety training

•Partnerships to develop and disseminate information about trauma and resources

•Increase support of Faith-Based Organizations and other community-based organizations.

Community Advisory Board:

An Advisory Committee consisting of Veterans, family members, and other partners will be convened regularly to guide the program’s implementation and evaluation.

Resources and Services:

Linkages and referrals to legal services. Services include assistance with criminal record expungement and sealing, Social Security benefits, family and housing matters.

Peer support groups to support healing, build leadership and promote program sustainability.
